Last week the weather did a semi-Spring tease here in NC. My daffodils started blooming, and even the air conditioning kicked on. I got a lot of pre-Spring cleaning done and also made my way up to my grandma Barb’s house for a quick 2-day vacation.
Fast forward to this present moment, and it is literally sleeting, raining, cloudy and windy outside. Ah well, can’t enjoy the sunny days without a few rainy ones right?
Besides a little stormy weather is not going to stop me from enjoying this refreshing, dare I say, better than Sonics, Cherry Limeade…again!!!
I made this drink during that burst of fake Spring, and it gave me all the warm day vibes while relaxing in my sunroom. Have you ever had Sonic’s cherry limeade? All of Sonic’s limeades are good, but the cherry limeade is the most popular, and for a good reason, they are freaking delicious! I’m pretty sure they use a cherry syrup, but we are going to go another route to get that authentic burst of cherrylicious lime flavor!
The flavor is a bit different than Sonic’s. You can really taste the tart cherries and limes and the sweetness from the lime syrup and soda. It’s bursting with fresh, authentic flavor that I just adore!
This cherry limeade starts with a homemade limeade concentrate/simple syrup made with pure cane sugar and limes. Yep, that’s it. Next comes fresh maraschino cherries, pure tart cherry juice, and lemon-lime soda to add some fizz.
I’m using Sprite for my lemon-lime soda, but there are plenty of natural, organic brands of lemon-lime soda out there if you want to keep this drink a bit “cleaner”.
The results is a sweet, tart, fizzy, refreshing homemade cherry limeade that will be the bee’s knees for baby showers, wedding showers, brunches or anything else you’ve got coming up. Or simply just relaxing.
This cherry limeade is a real crowd pleaser, and it’s so hard to get enough of this drink. Yeah, it’s that delicious which may be a good or bad thing : )

Notes
Thank you for a terrific idea and recipe. I’ve mixed everything but the lemon soda, then plan to add the soda and cheery like mixtures per glass about how much of each would you guess makes a serving? Thank you for a wonderful site.
Ok I have solved the formula. I mix all the ingredients except the sprite, in a bottle that I can keep in the refrigerator and that I can pour over ice about two or three tabelspoons. Then add my lemon soda, I too prefer Sprite. So you can enjoy your cherry limeade, a glass at a time, and keep the fizz.
I make tea cakes all the time. Receipt is like yours with the nutmeg . My mother taught me. She would make them by the old fashioned dish pan full . Will try some of your other recipes.
